Do you make pup-sized samples? We usually stick to healthy, but because we eat unhealthy in moderation, think Rainey should too.
When rolling the Pfeffernüsse cookies, I made one with her in mind.
A little about Rainey ~
She was supposed to be a second for our first dog, but we suddenly lost our first love to cancer in twenty days. In deep grief over Kama, how could this second be an option? After walking around with a gaping hole, we called about this nameless black dog.
Out of her cage she walked calmly and sat beside our daughter who rested on my knelt lap. From then, Rainey sat, lay next to, and protected our daughter until she passed. Then Rainey grieved as hard as us.
Rainey’s well behaved and gracious. Those who love dogs adore her, while those who don’t fall madly and want a dog just like her.
When leaving the house, Rainey waits to be invited. When we open the back of our car, she waits to be asked back. I can leave a whole board of food on the floor for photographs. Without saying a word, Rainey won’t touch a drop.
Everywhere we go, people comment about how good she is. When driving to the Shasta SPCA that November night, we were at the height of grief and our daughter’s therapy program. Last we had time for was training a dog, so we take no credit for the compliments received.
Rainey was found on the streets, then taken into the pound. She was hand selected and sent to us during a critical and especially dark time. This girl is a ray of light or our Rainey Day because until we could get back to the snow, we felt most alive when it rained.
Can you spy Rainey’s cookie?
After the Pfeffernüsse shoot, I asked Rainey to come over for her cookie.
Crickets.
After more sweet talk, she moseyed on over…
But still wouldn’t eat her cookie.
So I tried to feed her the cookie.
It’s German for um um good, Rainey.
Rainey approved.
