With the holidays upon us,
Our living room’s a pendulum of difficult to easy recipes.
This oil dip falls into the easy but mouth dropping.
In the holiday swing, these are the recipes that save us, right?
I’m a balsamic bread dipper through and through. I perfected an iron clad recipe. Then while whizzing the aisles of Whole Foods, everything changed. I stopped for a sample. Rules are rules. No matter how busy, I break for bread, especially theirs.
On this day, the bread came with dipping oil. I’ve had my fair share of these oils, but this was different. The herb/spice combination made me stumble and stuttered, “Do you? Can I? How?” She did and I don’t know that I’ve smiled bigger.
When you know you know, right? And so does everyone we’ve serve this oil mix, because they stop mid sip, sentence, story, or bite to ask, “Do you? Can I? How?” I do and don’t know that I’ve seen them smile bigger.
Garlic Herb Bread Oil Tips
- If choosing to temper the garlic bite, mix the minced garlic with lemon juice before adding to the remainder of the herb mix.
- Using high quality extra virgin olive oil will yield an extra amazing dip along with nutrients and health benefits to boot.
- Using fresh garlic and lemon juice will too.
A Word on Dried Herbs
Dried herbs have their place too, but should be replaced every one to three years.
Before using, it’s good to run/crunch them between your fingers to release their flavorful oils.
For this reason, I place all the herbs in a bowl prior to adding to the mix first.
I dip, you dip, we dip.
